Columbus Crew SC will officially break ground on the club's new downtown stadium on October 10 in an event open to the general public, the club announced Tuesday.

Supporters are invited to attend the ceremony, which begins at approximately 2 pm ET and features music and food truck concessions beginning at 1 pm ET. The first 500 attendees will receive a commemorative groundbreaking shovel.

Centered in downtown Columbus, the Crew’s new stadium is expected to be a $230-million, 20,000-capacity venue on a 33-acre site. Beyond the stadium, the project includes a riverfront park, nearly 1,000 new residential units and office and commercial space.

The Crew expect to open play at the new ground during the summer of the 2021 MLS season.
