Zlatan Ibrahimovic's stunning strike nominated for FIFA award

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's 500th career goal was something special.

An acrobatic, spinning volley into the back of the net, Ibrahimovic's goal last September for the LA Galaxy is being recognized as one of the year's greatest goals. FIFA unveiled this year's nominees for the Puskas Award, given to the best goal, and Ibrahimovic's strike was alongside efforts from Lionel Messi, Amy Rodriguez, Andros Townsend and more.

Voting for this year's award has opened and will close September 1.

Believe it or not, it's Ibrahimovic's fifth time being nominated for the award. He won it for this astounding bicycle kick in Sweden's 4-2 friendly victory against England in 2012:

The last MLS player to be nominated for the award was the Vancouver Whitecaps' Camilo Sanvezzo for his spectacular side volley in 2013 against the Portland Timbers. The Whitecaps' Eric Hassli also received a nomination for his unbelievable volley against Toronto FC in the 2012 Canadian Championship.
