With one English striker on his way out the door, D.C. United may be interested in signing another.

According to Jeff Carlisle of ESPN, D.C. are in talks with former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge. The 29-year-old is currently a free agent after his contract with the reigning European champions expired this summer.

Carlisle adds, via The Times, Sturridge is considering 13 contract offers.

The Washington Post's Steven Goff refuted the report, saying talks between the two sides ended last week.

Sturridge, who has had injury problems over the last few years, hasn't started more than 11 league games since a memorable 2013/14 campaign in which he had 21 goals and seven assists in 29 league appearances. During his time with Liverpool, Sturridge had 68 goals and 28 assists in 160 appearances.

Before Liverpool, Sturridge played for Chelsea. He was a product of Manchester City's academy and has never featured for a club outside of England.

He featured for England at the 2014 World Cup and 2016 European Championship. He has eight goals in 26 appearances for his country.
