Josef Martinez sets new MLS record with goals in 10 consecutive matches

Josef Martinez broke yet another MLS scoring record on Sunday, thumping home the opening goal in Atlanta United's match vs. New York City FC to extend his streak to 10 consecutive games with a goal.

The reigning MLS MVP soared high to nod a Julian Gressel cross past Sean Johnson in the 42nd minute, his 14th strike during his current string. That red-hot run of form helped Martinez earn MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS for July.

The Venezuelan already owned a share of the previous record of nine, a distinction also belonging to Portland Timbers playmaker Diego Valeri. But now the mark is Josef's alone.
