2019 MLS Regular Season Week 23
Sporting Kansas City vs. Real Salt Lake
Children's Mercy Park - Kansas City
August 10 - 8:30 PM ET

Coming off huge Week 22 wins, Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake meet Saturday night in a Western Conference six-pointer at Children's Mercy Park.

Sporting Kansas City (7-9-7) moved within five points of the playoff line in the West with a 3-2 win over the Seattle Sounders Sunday at CenturyLink Field. Felipe Gutierrez struck for a brace inside the opening 33 minutes and Jordan Morris scored a pair of second-half goals. But Erik Hurtado netted the 58th-minute winner for SKC, who have won three of their last five games.

Real Salt Lake (10-9-4) extended an unbeaten streak to four matches, rallying from an early deficit to defeat New York City FC 3-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium Saturday. Alex Ring put the visitors in front after four minutes, but Jefferson Savarino leveled in the 37th minute. A stunning strike by Albert Rusnak put the hosts in front in the 75th minute and Nick Besler added an insurance tally two minutes from full time.

This is the second meeting this season, with Real Salt Lake winning 2-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium thanks to a first-half Sam Johnson brace.
