Atlanta United's Josef Martinez fluffs penalty kick after signature run-up

It didn't matter matter much in the end, but Josef Martinez's penalty-kick miss was one you do not see everyday.

The Atlanta United striker did his signature run-up, but instead of slotting it into the back of the net, the ball skied over Bill Hamid's net. You can watch the attempt above.

The penalty would have put Atlanta up 1-0 over D.C. United in the 72nd minute, but the game was later decided by a Pity Martinez header in the 89th minute. Josef provided an insurance goal in the 92nd minute.

The Venezuelan's penalty kicks are unlike most you would see in the world and MLSsoccer.com talked about the routine with MLS goalkeepers earlier this year. He was successful on 14 of 15 attempts in his MLS career (including playoffs) entering the day.
