Report: Sevilla pushing to sign DC United's Luciano Acosta

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report

Italian-based Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that La Liga's Sevilla are among the clubs pressing to sign Luciano Acosta from D.C. United this summer.

Acosta very nearly left D.C. over the winter to sign with Paris Saint-Germain — even traveling to France before the deal fell through — and is out of contract with D.C. following the current season.

Now age 25, Acosta enjoyed a breakout 2018 with D.C., scoring 10 MLS goals and adding 17 assists in the league. His productivity has waned somewhat this year, with five MLS goals and two assists.

In addition to Sevilla, there are also Chinese clubs interested, Di Marzio writes. An earlier report from The Athletic's Pablo Maurer indicated Manchester United had visited D.C. to scout Acosta in April.
