Report: Montreal Impact to acquire Finnish winger on loan from Bologna

Lassi Lappalainen - Finland - qualifier

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Reports

The Montreal Impact could be set to acquire Finnish winger Lassi Lappalainen on loan from sister side Bologna FC in the Serie A, according to numerous European reports.

Bologna, who are also owned by Impact owner Joey Saputo, are signing Lappalainen from Finland first-division club HJK, with the latter already announcing the 20-year-old's departure. (Check out his parting words below, if you speak Finnish.)

Lappalainen has played primarily on the left wing, but can also play the right flank, and has scored 15 goals in 70 career appearances in the Finnish top flight. He's appeared for Finland at multiple youth international levels, and more recently in three games for the full national team in qualifying for the 2020 European Championships.

If the reports are true and he signs, Lappalainen could get immediate time with the Impact, who have seen right-sided playmaker Ignacio Piatti limited to only five appearances this MLS season due to injury.

Reports have also linked Piatti to a potential return to his native Argentina, though club president Kevin Gilmore has said publicly that the 34-year-old will remain with the club through 2020.
