Atlanta, Orlando, Minnesota United, Portland reach 2019 US Open Cup semis

The final four of the 2019 U.S. Open Cup is set, and it will be an all-MLS affair.


The two lower-division representatives, USL Championship sides Saint Louis FC and New Mexico United, were knocked out in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, and that sets up two tasty regional clashes.


Atlanta United vs. Orlando City


Out east, two rivals will clash, as Atlanta United and Orlando City, both in the USOC semifinals for the first time, will face off for a spot in the title game. Atlanta downed Saint Louis 2-0 and Orlando City knocked out NYCFC after a 5-4 penalty shootout.


Following the draw by U.S. Soccer on Thursday, Orlando City will host Atlanta United at Exploria Stadium on August 6 at 7:30 pm ET.


Minnesota United vs. Portland Timbers


In the west, Minnesota United will take on the Portland Timbers. Minnesota are in the semifinals for the first time themselves, while the Timbers will return to the penultimate round for the first time since 2013. The Loons crushed New Mexico 6-1, and the Timbers downedLAFC 1-0, the only road team in the quarterfinal round to win and advance.


The Loons will host the Timbers at Allianz Field on August 7 at 8 pm ET.
