ESPN FC has confirmed earlier reporting out of Mexico that the New England Revolution are in negotiations with Club Tijuana to acquire Argentine forward Gustavo Bou, but report that the propsed transfer fee is closer to $5 million.

Bou would also sign a Designated Player contract for the Revs as they continue their rebuild under Bruce Arena worth about $2 million a season, per ESPN.

Mexican commentator Carlos Cordova had originally reported the Revs could be set to pay a $10-million transfer fee for Bou, but a source close to negotiations tells ESPN's Kristian Dyer the actual fee " is roughly half" of that.

Bou also told reporters that he could potentially be leaving Tijuana, calling the situation "uncertain."

Originally a product of River Plate, Bou has scored 10 goals in four different domestic seasons between Argentine side Racing Club and Tijuana.

New England have scored 22 goals in 19 matches, the fourth fewest in MLS this season.
