TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The Philadelphia Union have signed MLS veteran defender RJ Allen, the club announced Tuesday. Allen had been without a club after spending last season with Orlando City SC

“RJ will provide needed depth and cover for our fullback corps,” Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a statement. “He has four years of MLS experience and has shown well as a trialist over the past week. We’d like to welcome him to our team.”

Allen, 29, made his MLS debut in 2015 with New York City FC, where he spent three seasons as a valuable member of the first team. He made 53 appearances (42 starts) before joining Orlando City in 2018, where he made 18 appearances.

After starring at Monmouth University, Allen kicked off his professional career with Skive IK in Denmark.
