A pair of MLS originals coming off disappointing results last weekend meet for a Fourth of July tilt in Frisco, as FC Dallas host D.C. United at Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas (7-7-5) ended Week 17 with a 1-0 loss at the Portland Timbers on Sunday night, snapping a four-match unbeaten streak. Brian Fernandez set an MLS record when he scored a goal in his fifth consecutive league match to start a career with the lone goal in the 42nd minute. FC Dallas had multiple quality chances to draw even in the second half, the best of those in the 75th minute, but Jesus Ferreira's shot from inside the box sailed high over the net.

D.C. United (8-4-7) extended an unbeaten run to five games with their fourth draw during that stretch, rallying for a 1-1 tie against Toronto FC at Audi Field. Wayne Rooney's penalty kick in second-half stoppage time canceled out a first-half goal by Nick DeLeon against his former club, as the Black-and-Red moved to within one point of first-place Philadelphia.
