Western Conference foes coming off huge Week 17 wins meet at Allianz Field when Minnesota United FC host the San Jose Earthquakes Wednesday night.

The Loons (7-7-3) erased a three-game losing streak in a big way, blasting FC Cincinnati, 7-1, at Allianz Field Saturday afternoon. The number of goals scored and the margin of victory are both Minnesota club records during their MLS tenure. Ike Opara, Hassani Dotson, Ethan Finlay and Angelo Rodriguez staked the hosts to a four-goal lead before halftime. After Emmanuel Ledesma scored for FC Cincinnati, Opara had his brace and Mason Toye and Kevin Molino followed to complete the rout.

The red-hot Earthquakes (7-6-4) made it six straight games without a loss, beating the LA Galaxy in the first California Clasico of 2019 Saturday night at Stanford Stadium. It was the fourth win during the stretch for San Jose, which moved within one point of fourth-place FC Dallas in the West. Vako continued his personal torrid pace with a sixth consecutive goal in all competitions followed by late goals by Shea Salinas and Tommy Thompson.

This is the second regular season meeting, with the Loons winning, 3-0, at Avaya Stadium on March 9 on goals by Darwin Quintero and Miguel Ibarra three minutes apart early in the second half followed by an own goal by Harold Cummings.
