Reports: Galaxy table $12 million offer for 50% of Cristian Pavon's rights

Cristian Pavon - Boca Juniors - in Copa Libertadores

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Reports

The LA Galaxy have submitted a formal transfer offer to Boca Juniors for Argentine international Cristian Pavon and the player himself is ready to make the move, according to new media reports in both countries.

The Galaxy’s interest in the 23-year-old winger was widely reported on earlier this month, and on Tuesday Argentina-based journalist Hernan Castillo took to Twitter to assert that the five-time MLS Cup champions have tabled a bid of over $12 million for 50% of Pavon’s rights, an arrangement which would effectively ensure that the two clubs split the proceeds from any future transfers elsewhere.

Then on Wednesday CBS Sports’ Roger Gonzalez dropped a post confirming Castillo’s reporting, and adding that Pavon is on board with the move to Los Angeles to reunite with his former coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

The Galaxy would likely still face ample hurdles to get a deal over the line when the MLS secondary transfer window opens next month, however, given that they already carry the maximum of three Designated Players on their roster. The acquisition of a prominent star like Pavon, a member of Argentina’s 2018 World Cup team who has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal in the past, would likely require the application of DP status.
