Real Salt Lake hope to push above the playoff line in the Western Conference when they host Sporting Kansas City Saturday night at Rio Tinto Stadium.

RSL (6-8-2) are one point out of a playoff spot after a 1-1 draw against the Chicago Fire at SeatGeek Stadium last Saturday. After falling behind inside five minutes on a goal by Aleksandar Katai, Albert Rusnak leveled from the penalty spot for Salt Lake, who picked up a road point after back-to-back away defeats to Eastern Conference foes.

For just the second time since April, Sporting Kansas City (4-5-7) picked up three points and moved to within two points of seventh-place Minnesota United with a 1-0 win over Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium Saturday. Felipe Gutierrez scored the lone goal in the 48th minute and Sporting kept a clean sheet for just the second time this season.
