Matias Almeyda found success with Chivas de Guadalajara, and he could be looking for a reunion with a player who was part of his Liga MX-winning squad.

ESPN's Tom Marshall reported on Thursday the San Jose Earthquakes are in talks with attacker Carlos Fierro. The 24-year-old is on the books at Cruz Azul, but he has been transfer-listed this offseason and Almeyda is reportedly interested in bringing the player to MLS.

Almeyda commented on the report after the Quakes' 3-1 loss to LAFC on Thursday night.

Fierro burst onto the scene as one of Mexico's key players that won the 2011 U-17 World Cup. Breaking into the Chivas first team shortly after. He's had loan stints at Queretaro and more recently Morelia, and he's won the 2015 Copa MX and the 2017 Clausura Liga MX title at Chivas with Almeyda in charge.

San Jose have rounded into form in recent weeks, sitting just below the playoff line in the Western Conference after losing four straight games to open Almeyda's tenure.
