The good news is the US advanced to the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup. That happened Thursday with a 1-0 win over Qatar in the final game of the group stage.

The bad news came Friday when they learned their opponent.

Next up is powerhouse France, one of the pre-tournament favorites. Les Bleuets, finished atop Group E, winning all three of their matches, including a wild 3-2 victory over Mali on Friday. The teams will meet in the Round of 16 June 4 (11:30 AM ET | FS2, NBC Universo) at Zdzisław Krzyszkowiak Stadium in Bydgoszcz.

France have reached the knockout stage five times and were champions in 2013. That was also the only time the two teams met in the tournament when the US drew France, 1-1, during the group stage.
