US Under-20s lose to Uruguay in penalty-kick shootout in World Cup tune-up

The Under-20 World Cup is set to kick off in less than a week and the US U-20 men's national team had their final tune-up on Saturday.


Tab Ramos' squad lost to Uruguay in a penalty-kick shootout after the two teams drew 1-1. FC Dallas academy product Chris Richards provided the lone goal for the US. The current Bayern Munich center back tied up the match in the 32nd minute after Uruguay scored the opener in the 18th minute.

The match went into a penalty-kick shootout where Uruguay won 4-3.

All three of the USA’s group stage games will be broadcast on the FOX networks. The US U-20s will open their tournament vs. Ukraine on Friday, May 24 (2:30 pm ET | FS1), then face Nigeria on May 27 2:30 pm ET | FS1) and conclude group play vs. Qatar on May 30 2:30 pm ET | FS2).
