Goal of the Matchday

Ale, Ale Ale Ale! Pozuelo earns his second AT&T Goal of the Week honor

Alejandro Pozuelo's thunderbolt early on in Toronto FC's 4-3 victory over Minnesota United not only jumpstarted the home side in a wild Week 8 encounter: It also earned him AT&T Goal of the Week for a second time in his nascent MLS career.

Pozuelo, who has been exceptional in filling Toronto's playmaking shoes since his arrival in early March, created space on the counterattack with a stepover before unleashing a right-footed curler beyond the dive of Vito Mannone.

The goal was Pozuelo's third in MLS before bringing his total to four two minutes later. He won the GotW balloting by a healthy margin, with 43 percent of the vote.

LAFC's Carlos Vela came in second with 21 percent of the vote for his opener on a tremendous team move against the Seattle Sounders, followed by Shea Salinas' bombastic bolt for the San Jose Earthquakes with 16 percent. Bryan Acosta's strike on a wonderful FC Dallas counterattack took 12 percent of the vote, and the maiden tally of Jorge Moreira's Portland Timbers career rounded out the voting with 8 percent.
