One of the strangest MLS goals you'll see was scored in Week 8

It was the only goal Columbus Crew SC would score in Week 8. And the opposing goalkeeper got the assist.

Portland 'keeper Jeff Attinella sought to jumpstart his team's attack with an outlet throw for one of his teammates in the 69th minute, but the ball instead fell into the path of Crew SC winger Pedro Santos, positioned on the attacking right wing.

And with Attinella well off his line, Santos let his instincts do the rest.

The mistake by the Timbers netminder was the latest in a series of goalkeeper errors around MLS that have resulted in costly goals. In Week 7, NYCFC's Sean Johnson actually committed an own goal against Minnesota, and a couple of days earlier veteran Fire goalkeeper David Ousted mistimed an intervention off his line which led to a Vancouver goal.

The only positive for Attinella? The Crew goal, which came with the Timbers up 2-0, proved to merely be a consolation strike in a 3-1 Timbers road win at MAPRE Stadium.
