USMNT to host Venezuela at Nippert Stadium for final Gold Cup tune-up

US men's national team - vs. Chile - celebrate Christian Pulisic's goal

The US men's national team will head to FC Cincinnati's Nippert Stadium for the final Gold Cup tune-up on June 9 against Venezuela, the federation announced Thursday.

It will be the USMNT's first game in Cincinnati, as Gregg Berhalter gets ready for his first competitive games at national team coach. He is still undefeated across four friendlies, with three wins and a draw over his tenure with the USMNT.

“We are looking forward to having this opportunity heading into the Gold Cup,” Berhalter said in a release. “Venezuela is in a period of emerging talent with their national teams. This generation of players reached the 2017 U-20 World Cup final and has already produced an impressive result at the senior level by beating Argentina. Like us, they have been testing themselves against different types of opposition. When you add in the support that FC Cincinnati has developed and we expect to see, you couldn’t ask for a better preparation match.”

MLS stars like Josef Martinez, Junior Moreno and Jefferson Savarino may be selected to face the USMNT.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, April 25, through ussoccer.com’s ticket portal.
