Colorado Rapids vs Seattle Sounders postponed to September 7 due to weather

Snow-covered Dick's Sporting Goods Park

With extreme weather forecast in the Denver area on Wednesday, the Week 7 match between the Colorado Rapids and the Seattle Sounders has been postponed.

The match, which was set to be played at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, will now be held on Saturday, September 7 at 9 pm ET.

Balmy temperatures in Denver, which reached the 70s on Tuesday, will quickly be replaced by blizzard conditions on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Rapids have hosted their share of matches in the snow over the club's history, including in Week 1 of the current 2019 season when they played the coldest match in MLS history against the Portland Timbers.

Both clubs will return to action this Saturday, April 13 in East vs. West clashes: Seattle Sounders host Toronto FC (4 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in USA; TSN in Canada), while the Rapids welcome D.C. United (9 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in USA; MLS LIVE on DAZN in Canada).

The Sounders (4W-0L-1D, 13 points) sit in 2nd place in the West and are one of four undefeated teams after six weeks of play. Colorado (0W-4L-2D, 2 points) find themselves in 10th place in the Western Conference and they are still in the hunt for their first win of 2019.

FANTASY IMPACT: Be sure to review your Fantasy lineup in case you loaded up on Rapids and Sounders players based on their double-game week (match on Wednesday and Saturday).
