TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension

The New England Revolution and midfielder Scott Caldwell have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, the club announced Thursday.

Caldwell, who turned 28 earlier this month, has spent his entire career with the Revs, joining the club as a Homegrown signing ahead of the 2013 season. He has made 182 appearances (149 starts) since his debut, including appearing in all four matches for the club this season.

ā€œIā€™m very excited to re-sign with the Revolution, my hometown club and the team Iā€™ve supported since I was a kid growing up in Braintree,ā€ Caldwell said in a club statement. ā€œIā€™m always proud to put on this jersey and Iā€™m grateful for the opportunity to continue representing the Revolution for years to come.ā€

Caldwell was named the Revs 2015 Team MVP by fans and 2015 Playersā€™ Player of the Year by teammates, and was a key cog in the side that reached the 2014 MLS Cup final.

ā€œScott is such a valuable part of our team and organization, and he has set the perfect example for what it means to represent New England and this club.ā€ Revs general manager Michael Burns said. ā€œWhether it was setting the foundation for our academy back in 2008, leading the first team over these last seven seasons, or the countless hours he commits to his work in the community, Scottā€™s contributions to the Revolution cannot be overstated. I look forward to seeing him continue to lead this club both on and off the field.ā€

Caldwell and the Revs host Minnesota United on Saturday (2 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US, DAZN in Canada).
