Johnny Russell - Scotland - Hugging teammate

Two Western Conference stars shined bright while on international duty for their respective home countries.

On Sunday, Sporting Kansas City winger Johnny Russell scored his first career goal for Scotland in a 2-0 win over San Marino in a Group I qualifier for the 2020 Euros. Russell, who made his senior national team debut in 2014, floated to the back post, dribbled past the goalkeeper and smashed home with his right foot.

As for Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro, he went the full 90 minutes as Uruguay beat Thailand, 4-0, to win the China Cup. La Celeste had previously beaten Uzbekistan, 3-0, last Friday.

As Russell returns to SKC, they next host the Montreal Impact on Saturday (3:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US; TVAS and TSN5 in Canada). Meanwhile, the Sounders will travel to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday (10:00 pm ET | MLS LIVE on ESPN+ in US; TSN1 in Canada) as their 2019 Cascadia Cup campaign gets underway.
