Adams leaves US camp to rejoin RB Leipzig; Gonzalez to play for FC Dallas

U.S. Soccer announced two pieces of roster news on Friday as the US men’s national team shift their locale from Orlando, Florida to Houston ahead of Tuesday’s match vs. Chile at BBVA Compass Stadium (7:55 pm ET | ESPN2, UniMás, UDN).

Tyler Adams is returning to his German club team, RB Leipzig, after a standout performance in Thursday’s 1-0 friendly win over Ecuador in Orlando. No new players will be called in to fill his spot. Leipzig face Hertha Berlin next Saturday and currently sit in third place in Bundesliga, in prime position to earn a Champions League spot next season. The team has not lost a match since his insertion into the lineup.

The federation also revealed that goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez will return to FC Dallas in order to be available for the North Texas side’s league match vs. the Colorado Rapids at Toyota Stadium on Saturday (5:45 pm ET | UniMás, Twitter — Full TV streaming info), then rejoin the USMNT in Houston ahead of the Chile clash.

The press release also noted that Weston McKennie “will travel with the team to Houston for further evaluation” on the nasty-looking ankle injury he sustained on Thursday night.
