Minnesota United's Darwin Quintero stars in Loons road win in Vancouver

Darwin Quintero - Minnesota United - March 2, 2019

Anyone thinking Darwin Quintero's 2018 season was a flash in the pan? Think again.

Minnesota United's star attacker, who had 11 goals and 15 assists in 27 matches last year, started 2019 much the way he left off last year: producing goals and assists. In Week 1 he had a hand in all three Loon goals as they came away with a convincing 3-2 road win in Vancouver.

Quintero had a goal and two assists. His goal came on a penalty kick in the 37th minute. Then in the 66th minute he delivered a tasty cross to teammate Francisco Calvo, who did the rest. And then he stripped a Vancouver player of the ball in the 70th minute, feeding Romario Ibarra for Minnesota's third.

If MNUFC can build on this with the April 13 launch of their brand new stadium, Allianz Field, Quintero might be in the MVP mix by season's end.
