2019 Season Preview: Vancouver Whitecaps

The Vancouver Whitecaps had an offseason makeover that almost felt like an expansion club ... with 15 players in and 21 out.

Intrigue is high around the Whitecaps with so many unknown factors, including additions from 12 different countries this winter. Establishing chemistry and continuity will be atop new head coach Marc Dos Santos' list of priorities to kick off the season.

Team strengths and weaknesses

  • Strength: There are a lot of unknowns around Vancouver's roster – perhaps the most of any team in the league – and that could work both for and against them.
  • Weakness: Getting all the new players to jell is another question entirely, while the team could use some reinforcements in the center of midfield, especially if Dos Santos chooses to go with three players there.

Predictions

  • Charlie Davies: 10th in West
  • Matt Doyle: 9th in West

  • Andrew Wiebe: 11th in West
