Orlando City goal celebration preseason vs. NYCFC

Tesho Akindele and Chris Mueller scored three minutes apart in the first half to lead Orlando City SC to a 2-1 win over New York City FC In the nightcap of the opening night of the Orlando City Invitational as part of 2019 MLS Preseason presented by Advocare.

Maxi Moralez gave the Cityzens the lead on the half-hour mark with a long-distance blast.

Akindele leveled for the Lions four minutes later, finishing at the far post after Sacha Kljestan flicked on a Danilo Acosta cross.

Akindele then turned playmaker in the 37th minute, setting up Mueller, who scored for the second consecutive preseason game to give the Lions a 2-1 halftime lead.

NYCFC finished with 10 men after Jonathan Lewis was sent off with a quarter hour remaining for his second bookable offense.


The Invitational continues Wednesday with NYCFC facing Minnesota United FC at 4:30 p.m., while the Lions meet the New England Revolution at 7:30 p.m.
