Reports: Toronto FC mulling loan move for Independiente's Jonathan Menendez

Last week Toronto FC saw a Sebastian Giovinco-sized hole open up in their attacking corps, and new reports out of Argentina suggests that the Reds may be seeking a solution, even if only a stopgap, in that country.

Jonathan Menendez is the player in question, a striker on the books at Independiente in the Argentine top flight. Menendez, 24, recently returned from a loan spell at Al-Rayyan SC in Qatar ahead of schedule after finding limited playing time, and in his estimation, low odds of a permanent move.

It appears Independiente coach Ariel Holan planned to work him back into his squad for the current Primera Liga campaign, but talk of a six-month spell at TFC with an option to buy has materialized. Previous reports suggested that Menendez carries a US$3.5 million price tag
