The Houston Dynamo got a goal from Honduran international Alberth Elis to down their USL affiliate Rio Grande Valley FC in their first match of the 2019 MLS Preseason, presented by Advocare.
The match, which was open to fans, has become an annual tradition at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Dynamo and RGVFC faced off over two 30-minute periods with Elis finding the back of the net in the opening stanza. That was followed by an intrasquad scrimmage for RGVFC players to close out the night.
Houston and their USL affiliate are scheduled to meet again in a scrimmage on Tuesday morning.
