LAFC announced on Wednesday they have re-signed left back Jordan Harvey through the 2019 season.

Harvey, 34, made 29 MLS regular-season appearances, plus one MLS Cup Playoff appearance, for the club in their expansion season after signing a free-agent deal. All told, Harvey had made 299 appearances and played over 25,000 minutes in the regular season in his MLS career to date, which stretches 13 seasons.

“Jordan is a reliable, experienced player that played a key role in the club’s first season in MLS,” said general manager and EVP of soccer operations John Thorrington in a team statement. “One of our offseason priorities was to keep the core of our group intact, and we’re delighted that Jordan has re-signed for the 2019 season.”

Harvey beat out rookie Joao Moutinho as the starter at left back over the course of the 2018 season, and with Moutinho swapped with Mohamed El-Munir in a trade last month with Orlando City, it looks like Harvey and El-Munir will compete for minutes at left back in 2019 for the Black & Gold.
