FC Cincinnati have been active in the trade market ahead of their debut season in MLS, and reports continue to hum along concerning a deal for an MLS Cup winner.

The Oregonian's Jamie Goldberg tweeted on Wednesday that the Portland Timbers have traded defender Alvas Powell to Cincinnati in exchange for $250,000 in General Allocation Money, as well as a 25 percent stake in Powell's sell-on fee outside of MLS.

That report came a day after ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman tweeted that Powell was projected to be on FC Cincinnati's backline for 2019:

Powell, 24, started 24 MLS regular season games for the Timbers in 2018, having played 121 games in the regular season since joining in 2013. The Jamaican international helped Portland win the 2015 MLS Cup, and made three appearances in the Audi 2018 MLS Cup Playoffs en route to the Timbers' run to MLS Cup, but he split time late in the campaign at right back with Zarek Valentin, who started the final.

FC Cincinnati will make their debut in MLS on March 2, 2019 when they take on the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field.
