Bressan - FC Dallas - celebrates a goal for Gremio

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

FC Dallas have signed Brazilian center back Bressan from first-division side Grêmio, the club announced on Friday.

The 25-year-old was signed using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) and will be added to the FCD roster, occupying an international spot, pending receipt of his P1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are thrilled to be able to bolster our back line with a versatile player like Bressan,” FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a statement. “He has experience on the biggest stages of soccer in South America and we think his presence and technical ability as a defender will translate well to the style of play in MLS.”

Bressan started his professional career with Juventude after coming up through the club’s youth ranks. In 2013, he joined Grêmio, where he made 95 appearances, scoring four goals. He also went on year-long loans to Flamengo and Peñarol.

Since 2013, he’s appeared in 103 games in Brazil’s Série A, competing in 13 Copa Libertadores matches for Grêmio, including the second leg in the final for the 2017 championship squad. Bressan was also part of the Brazilian U-22s team that went to the 2015 Pan American Games in Canada, where he had four appearances.

The transaction was announced one day after FC Dallas was linked to Grêmio executive director Andre Zanotta, who reportedly will join the team after his contract runs out at the end of 2018.
