LAFC acquire Colombian defender Eddie Segura on loan

TRANSFER TRACKER: Signing

LAFC have acquired center back Eddie Segura from Atlético Huila on a six-month loan with the option to buy, the club announced Wednesday.

Segura, 21, captained the Colombian club and featured in every game as Atlético Huila finished fourth in Torneo Apertura. He joined the club in 2017 after spending four seasons with Deportivo Pereira in the Colombian second division.

"At such a young age, Eddie has accumulated a wealth of experience in Colombia, and we believe he has the requisite potential and qualities to make an immediate impact to our backline next season.” said General Manager John Thorrington said in a media release. “Eddie is a strong, dynamic defender who fits well with how we play, and, similar to our other players, will continue his progress as a player here in Los Angeles.”

After transferring Laurent Ciman during the season as well as the current question marks surrounding Walker Zimmerman's future, LAFC have improved their depth in central defense by making Segura their first signing of the offseason.
