There's been one question above all others for NYCFC fans following the team's postseason exit at the hands of Atlanta United: What's next for David Villa?

The captain, 36, hasn't spoken publicly since the 3-1 loss (4-1 aggregate) and has been the subject of rumors that he'd like to play one more season ... in an undetermined jersey

On Monday, Villa took to social media to share a message for his fans. He did not address his future.

In four seasons with NYCFC, Villa has scored 77 goals in 117 appearances. He is a three-time All-Star and 2016 Landon Donovan MLS MVP winner. This year he battled injuries, playing 23 games while producing 14 goals and 5 assists.
