Sporting Kansas City's Peter Vermes fined for public criticism of officials

Sporting Kansas City manager Peter Vermes has been fined an undisclosed amount for his public criticisms of officials, Major League Soccer announced Friday.

The comments in question came following SKC's contentious 1-1 draw against the LA Galaxy on October 6. Among those comments, Vermes took issue with calls at either end of the field – including a penalty that was given to the Galaxy and one that wasn't given to Sporting.

“MLS takes very seriously the integrity of our competition.” said MLS Senior Vice President of Competition Jeff Agoos in a statement. “While we acknowledge the officiating issues during the match, MLS technical staffs have a clearly defined process to provide feedback so that each issue can be addressed by MLS and the Professional Referee Organization (PRO).”
