Alphonso Davies youngest player in MLS history to tab 10 assists in season

Alphonso Davies has certainly made a mark on the field in his time in MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, but he's also written his name in the record books.


The 17-year-old, named the No. 1 player on the 2018 22 Under 22 list on Thursday, has six goals and 11 assists in MLS regular season play to date this season, his breakout campaign.

In the process, he became the youngest player in league history to notch at least 10 assists, smashing the record held by Landon Donovan, who did it at 19 years, 174 days, compared to Davies' 17 years, 268 days, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Donovan and Davies are the only two teenagers in MLS history to have tallied at least 10 assists in a single season.
