Independent Panel rescinds red card, suspension for Seattle's Chad Marshall

The Independent Panel, consisting of one representative each from the United States Soccer Federation and the Canadian Soccer Association, plus one representative nominated from the Professional Referee Organization, has unanimously rescinded the one-game suspension and accompanying fine for the red card issued to Seattle Sounders defender Chad Marshall serious foul play in the 81st minute of Seattle’s match against Sporting Kansas City on September 1.l

As a result of the appeal, Marshall is eligible to play in Seattle’s next regular season game on September 15 against the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Each club is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals per season, including playoffs. Since Seattle’s appeal was successful, the team maintains its two unsuccessful appeals for any future dismissals in the 2018 season.
