TRANSFER TRACKER: Signing

Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday they have signed central defender Roberto Dominguez.

The 21-year-old joins from Salvadoran club Santa Tecla, on a contract that runs through the rest of 2018 with club options through the 2021 season. He will occupy an international slot on the roster.

After trialling with the Whitecaps in June, Santa Tecla agreed to mutually terminate Dominguez's contract, according to a Vancouver team release.

Dominguez has played his entire pro career to date in his native El Salvador, first with Juventud Independiente and then Santa Tecla. At the latter club, he made over 100 appearances, winning the 2016-17 Apertura, Clausura and Copa El Salvador titles. He's also played in Concacaf League and Concacaf Champions League this year. He is also an El Salvador international, with 15 senior caps to date.

"We have kept tabs on Roberto for a while now and have been impressed with how he has progressed in El Salvador," said head coach Carl Robinson in a team statement. "He has potential and we are excited to add him to the group."
