Atlanta United's Josef Martinez sets record, has eight games to extend it

Atlanta United striker Josef Martinez has been unstoppable in 2018, and he's now set a new all-time MLS single season goalscoring record with 28 goals, following his chip against Orlando on Aug. 24. Roy Lassiter, Chris Wondolowski and Bradley Wright-Phillips shared the record prior to Martinez's astonishing 2018 campaign.

Martinez now has eight more games to extend the record, which gives him a chance not only to make it untouchable, but to secure Atlanta a Supporters' Shield victory. The Five Stripes currently lead that race by five points following Friday night's 2-1 win over Orlando.
