TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report

Following a report early Saturday morning that Alphonso Davies is close to completing a move to Bayern Munich, he was held off the the Vancouver Whitecaps' gameday roster for their Saturday afternoon visit to Seattle:

The Athletic's Kristian Dyer reported that Davies was close to sealing what would be a record-setting outgoing transfer deal for MLS, with Bayern reportedly set to pay a base fee of $12 million that "could rise with add-ons and clauses contingent on performance."

Davies, who signed with the Whitecaps as a 15-year-old, is enjoying his best season yet in MLS, with three goals and eight assists in 1,509 minutes, all comfortable career highs. One of the most highly-touted prospects in the league, Davies was reportedly also drawing interest from multiple Premier League teams, but might have had difficulty getting a work permit to play in England.

A full Canadian international, Davies enjoyed a breakout 2017 Gold Cup with his national team, scoring three goals to win the Golden Boot and Best Young Player honors while being named to the Team of the Tournament.

Six-time defending Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich are by far the most decorated team in Germany, perennial UEFA Champions League contenders and one of the most recognizable clubs in the world.
