Rumor: LA Galaxy could sign Milan's Ignazio Abate in the summer

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Rumor

The LA Galaxy could be interested in securing the services of AC Milan right back -- and former Zlatan Ibrahimovic club teammate -- Ignazio Abate this summer, according to Italian site Tuttomercatoweb.

As LAG Confidental explains, Abate would fill a need at right back that has opened up with the shoulder injury suffered by Venezuelan Rolf Feltscher in training a week ago. Feltscher is expected to be out four months after undergoing shoulder surgery, which would put his return date around the beginning of September.

However, such a move wouldn't be an immediate solution, with the 2018 MLS Primary Transfer window closing at 1 am Wednesday ET. The secondary window opens July 10.

Abate has received nearly two dozen call-ups to the Italian national team. He has spent most of the past decade playing club football at AC Milan.

That included a stint alongside Ibrahimovic for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, before the Swedish striker moved on to Paris St. Germain. The 31-year-old Abate's contract is set to expire in the summer of 2019.
