Toronto FC's Giovinco wins CCL Golden Ball award; Osorio wins Golden Boot

Toronto FC's 2018 Concacaf Champions League campaign ended in disappointment, but there were two players who could take individual solace in awards earned following the conclusion of the tournament.

Toronto lost the regional club title on Wednesday, by a 4-2 margin in a penalty shootout in Zapopan, Mexico, following a 3-3 aggregate score through two legs.

TFC midfielder Sebastian Giovinco won the top individual prize of the CCL, the Golden Ball, recognizing the best player of the tournament. Giovinco started all eight games, and was directly involved in 11 of the 13 goals Toronto scored in their run to the final.

Fellow midfielder Jonathan Osorio won the Golden Boot, given to the top scorer, after he notched four goals, also in eight games.

The duo are the first Toronto FC players to win CCL awards. They are also the first MLS players to win CCL individual awards since the Montreal Impact's Evan Bush took the Golden Glove as best goalkeeper in the 2014-15 edition of the CCL.
