TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report

The Houston Dynamo are poised to sign Swedish left back Adam Lundqvist, according to a report from Montreal-based soccer journalist Nick Sabetti that was confirmed by his colleague Jeremy Filosa.

April 24, 2018

Lundqvist, 24, is a rising Sweden international who has become a regular starter at IF Elfsborg, who finished in eighth place in the Swedish Allsvenskan last year and currently sit 11th in the 16-team top flight this season, which runs on a spring-to-fall calendar similar to MLS.

A member of Sweden's last Olympic (Under-23) team, Lundqvist started in all three of his country's matches in the competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, and has two senior national-team caps to his name.

Ageless veteran DaMarcus Beasley, now 35, is Houston's current starter at left back, while Dylan Remick, who was re-signed over the winter and expected to compete for the job coming into this season, has been sidelined under the league's concussion protocol. The Dynamo presently sit in seventh place in the Western Conference after a 2-2-2 start to the campaign.
