Future LAFC MF Andre Horta voted Portuguese league's midfielder of month

Andre Horta is playing like a man energized by his upcoming move to Major League Soccer.

The future Designated Player and midfielder for LAFC was named as the midfielder of the month for March in Liga Portugal on Wednesday morning.

The Benfica product has spent the season on loan at SC Braga, where he's become a regular fixture for the northern side.

The 21-year-old Portuguese youth international has made eight consecutive starts for Braga, during which they've won seven matches and drawn one. Horta has two assists during that stretch, including one during Braga's 4-0-0 month of March in league play.

Internationally, Horta also scored last month during Portugal's 4-2 victory over Switzerland in qualifying for the UEFA U-21 European Championships.

LAFC announced the signing of Horta late last month as the club's third DP, joining Mexican international Carlos Vela and the 20-year-old Uruguayan attacker Diego Rossi.

Horta appears most likely to join Bob Bradley's squad at the beginning of the MLS Secondary Transfer Window, which opens on July 10. He could join LAFC earlier if Braga release him from his loan before May 1.
