While Minnesota United FC look set to make a splash before the MLS primary transfer window closes, they may not yet be done.

Amid sightings of Colombian forward Darwin Quintero in the Twin Cities on Wednesday, a report emerged this week that the Loons may also be looking to add Peruvian international Alexi Gomez.

Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported on Thursday that Minnesota United are aiming to bring in Gomez on a loan deal. While the deal isn't done, Greder reports considerable progress has been made and could be wrapped up next week.

Gomez, 25, is a left-sided player who can play a variety of positions out wide as well as in central midfield. Currently in his third stint at Lima-based power Universitario, he started the year on loan at Mexican side Atlas before the loan deal was canceled. In addition to playing in his native Peru and Mexico, he's played for clubs in Sweden (IF Brommapojkarna) and Chile (San Luis), and he has played for Peru at the youth and senior team levels.
