Federico Higuain, driving Crew SC's quick start, one assist from 50-50 club

With Columbus Crew SC's quick start continuing to roll in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact, midfield talisman Federico Higuain struck a 12th-minute penalty for his second goal of 2018 and 50th MLS regular-season strike overall, leaving him one assist shy of joining rarefied company: The 50-50 club.

He'd be the 19th player to join, following reigning MLS MVP Diego Valeri, who did so on his 139th game, on August 12, 2017. Saturday's contest was Higuaín's 151st regular-season MLS match. Columbus legends Jeff Cunningham and Brian McBride are already on the list.

After Saturday's match, Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter said, "[Higuain] is a great player, and he's a hugely important part of what we do. I was not fortunate enough to be here to coach some of the greatest players here, but he's definitely at the top of the list [of Crew SC's all-time greats]."
