Watch: Nicolas Lodeiro opens 2018 account with Champions League golazo

2018 CCL - Nicolas Lodeiro - Jordy Delem - Seattle Sounders - celebration

The scoreline may not have gone in the Seattle Sounders' favor on Thursday in El Salvador, but there was one highlight-reel moment on the visitors' side.

Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro opened the scoring in the 2-1 loss to Santa Tecla in the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League in the 15th minute with an audacious chip from somewhere around 40 yards.

It was a suitably impressive goal, and Lodeiro brought back his famous "shoe phone" celebration to mark the occasion.

Of course, the Sounders have a history of notable long-range goals in the CCL knockouts. There was Djimi Traore's tally in 2013 against Tigres from around 30 yards out, and DeAndre Yedlin's, also against Tigres in 2013.

Now, it's time to add Lodeiro's bomb to the Sounders' CCL lore.
