Atlanta United academy product Zyen Jones has become the latest promising young American to sign with Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04.
The club announced Monday it had acquired the 17-year-old US youth international forward on a deal that will officially begin when Jones turns 18 in August.
Jones joins a club that includes 19-year-old midfielder Weston McKennie among a cadre of Americans. He will likely play for the club's U-19 side during the 2018-19 season.
Jones scored twice for the US in the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championships, but did not feature on the side that reached the quarterfinal stage of the U-17 World Cup in India.
