Sebastian Giovinco keeps hitting set-piece stunners, even in preseason

You might recall the first leg of last year's Eastern Conference semifinals, when New York Red Bulls defender Michael Murillo was caught napping as Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco drove in a game-winning free kick.


Well, maybe Murillo's positioning didn't matter.


The Atomic Ant has picked up right where he left off this preseason, with his latest set piece goal coming on Thursday against Club América, on a strike that suggests resistance is futile.



Although the Reds lost this friendly 6-3, you'll note there are not one but two men on the right post who fail to stop this latest belter off the right foot of MLS's free kick master.


The strike was Giovinco's second from a restart during TFC's preparation for the CONCACAF Champions League and MLS regular season. On Jan. 31, he scored on another curler – albeit with no one on either post – in a 3-2 friendly victory over Club Tijuana:
